Commission
presents External Investment Plan

Following the announcement in the State of the Union, the
European Commission yesterday introduced the External Investment Plan, with the
objective of boosting investments in Africa and EU Neighbourhood countries.
EU’s High Representative Federica Mogherini spoke of the ‘huge potential’ of
countries in the Middle East and Africa and stated that “the new External
Investment Plan will support our partners‘ economies and societies, as well as
our strategic foreign policy goals, from security to global development”.The
proposed External Investment Plan aims to create a large framework for
cooperation and contribute to improving the global management of migration and
development, and is based on the European Fund for Strategic Investment or
‚Juncker Plan‘.
